Yoga is a traditional mind-body practice that has become widely practiced around the world for physical fitness, stress management, relaxation, and general well-being. It commonly combines physical postures, breathing practices, meditation, and mindful attention. This paper examines the role of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being, focusing on flexibility, strength, balance, cardiovascular health, stress management, emotional well-being, sleep, mindfulness, and healthy lifestyle behaviour. Contemporary evidence suggests that yoga can support several dimensions of health, including flexibility, strength, balance, stress reduction, and aspects of mental well-being. The World Health Organization has highlighted yoga as a widely practiced mind-body discipline and notes growing evidence concerning physical and mental health outcomes. At the same time, yoga should not be treated as a universal cure or replacement for medical treatment. Benefits may vary according to the type, intensity, duration, and quality of instruction. Safe practice also requires attention to individual abilities and health conditions. The paper argues that yoga can serve as a useful complementary approach to healthy living when practiced appropriately and integrated with evidence-based healthcare.
